Deborah Bohr, MPH

Ms. Bohr currently directs or supports HRET’s programs of patient safety and quality, health disparities elimination, and health care governance. This includes serving as P.I. for the Commonwealth Fund Physician Practice Patient Safety Assessment, P.I. for the AHRQ-funded “Reducing Hospital-Associated Infections: Improving Patient Safety through Implementing Multi-disciplinary Interventions,” and project director for the AHRQ-funded Hospital-based Palliative Care Consortium. Ms. Bohr recently served as the project director of a national hospital survey, Assessing the Current State and Impact of Quality Improvement Activities in Hospitals,” funded by The Commonwealth Fund. Ms. Bohr speaks frequently on these topics and is the contributing author to a number of books, including Medicine and Health Care Into the 21st Century, The Physician Leaders’ Guide, Health Care Quality for the 21st Century, Guide to the Use and Interpretation of Quality of Care Data, and editor of Quantitative Methods in Quality Assessment and Metodos cuantitativos en la gestion de la calidad: Una guia practica, in addition to articles on quality of care and governance. Prior to coming to HRET in 1990, she ran a division in AHA for four years focused on quality improvement, risk management, and infection control. Ms. Bohr has B.A. and M.P.H. degrees from the University of California-Berkeley.
